Report: Chargers WR Tyrell Williams to sign with Raiders

The Chargers’ top unrestricted free agent in 2019 has found a new home. Wide receiver Tyrell Williams will sign with the Raiders when free agency opens today at 4 p.m. ET, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Williams won’t be making that far of a trip to get to his new destination as he will remain in the state of California, going to one of Los Angeles’ rivals in the AFC West. He now joins Antonio Brown, who was recently acquired by Oakland this past weekend.

Entering the offseason, it was unlikely that Williams was going to be brought back by the Bolts after proving that he was worthy of receiving a No. 2 wide receiver label and good chunk of change.

The Chargers, who have a growing, yet reliable receiving corps already, didn’t feel he was worth paying what he would’ve wanted, thus leaving him on the market until someone else signed him.

Williams was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL draft. He shined when Keenan Allen went down with a season-ending injury in 2016, amassing over the 1,000 yard mark.

Through four seasons, Williams caught 155 passes for 2,530 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Bolts.
