Report: Chargers to sign QB Tyrod Taylor

After striking a deal with linebacker Thomas Davis, the Chargers have made another move.

Los Angeles has agreed to a two-year contract with quarterback Tyrod Taylor, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Taylor, who has started 46 games in his career, is one of the league’s more accomplished backup quarterbacks, which is something that the Bolts have rarely invested in behind the 37-year old QB.

Taylor started the first three games of last season for Cleveland, but when he was injured and Baker Mayfield played well in his absence, he never got the job back. Taylor previously spent three years as the Bills’ starter and was a backup for the Ravens prior to that.

Over the course of his career, he has completed 835-of-1,356 passes for 9,529 yards, 53 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions as well as 326 carries for 1,836 yards and 16 touchdowns during the regular season.
