Report: Chargers DT Corey Liuget visits Giants

Former Chargers defensive tackle Corey Liuget took a visit to the Giants on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Los Angeles opted not to pick up Liuget’s option after he finished the 2018 season on injured reserve with a quad injury. Prior to the season-ending injury, Liuget was suspended for the first four games of the year for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Liuget, the team’s 2011 first round selection, was a starter throughout his eight years with the Bolts where he posted 274 tackles, 24 sacks and six forced fumbles over his career.

It doesn’t appear that the Chargers will be looking to bring back Liuget for one more go-around. His inability to play last season may have been the last straw for the team.

In a draft class that features some top talent at the defensive tackle position, this may be the year for L.A early on, to grab one to help solidify the group as it only has three players on the active roster on the interior part of the defensive line.
