Report: Chad Alexander to be named Jets director of player personnel

With Phil Savage expected to join his staff, Jets general manager Joe Douglas will bring in another one of his former colleagues from the Ravens.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Douglas is hiring Ravens assistant director of player personnel Chad Alexander to be the Jets director of player personnel.

Alexander has been Baltimore’s assistant director of player personnel since 2009. Before that, he served as an area scout that covered the west, midwest and southeast areas of the United States. Among Baltimore’s finds: Michael Oher, LaDarius Webb and Terrell Suggs.

Douglas and Alexander worked together for 15 years before Douglas moved onto the Bears in 2015. Savage and Alexander have a prior relationship, as well. Savage served as the Ravens director of college scouting and director of player personnel in the early 2000s; Alexander was on his staff.

Douglas is now starting to fill in his staff. He clearly is trying to bring in guys who he has worked with in the past and has a good relationship with. The team has stressed that communication is key in the front office, so Douglas is getting people he trusts.
