Report: Celtics assistant coach turns down Georgia State interview

It appears Micah Shrewsberry is her to stay. For now.

An ESPN report surfaced on Tuesday stating the Boston Celtics assistant coach was in the running for the head coaching job at Georgia State, which had previously been Ron Hunter’s position — RJ Hunter’s father — though he recently left the Panthers for Tulane.

On Wednesday, Adam Himmelsbach reported he’d spoken with Shrewsbury, tweeting:

He declined Georgia State’s invitation to interview him for its head coaching job and will remain with Boston.

Shrewsbury has been with Brad Stevens in Boston since day one. He also worked with Stevens while the two were at Butler.
