Report: Case Keenum salary reworked, Redskins trade details revealed

Thursday, a report broke suggesting the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos were working out the details of a trade involving quarterback Case Keenum.

Given the Redskins bad cap situation in the wake of the Alex Smith injury, Keenum’s free-agent deal signed all of one year ago would presumably need reworked.

A new report has confirmed this portion of the deal and also provided insight into the trade compensation:

Clearly, the Broncos wanted Keenum’s contract off the books after an underwhelming performance last season. Denver went out and traded for Joe Flacco in an effort to solve the problem.

The Redskins get an affordable starting option here, though Keenum will presumably have to compete with Colt McCoy for the starting job. Keep in mind the Redskins could also look to the draft for more competition at the position, too.
