Carson Wentz not expected to play in Eagles 3rd preseason game vs. Ravens

The Philadelphia Eagles will battle the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night and it appears that Carson Wentz will sit out the third preseason game per Rob Kuester via John Clark of NBC Sports.

For the Eagles, it’ll be Josh McCown, Clayton Thorson, and Cody Kessler, with Derek Gunn reporting that the Birds would like to give the recently unretired quarterback about a half of action.

Wentz was not among the Eagles quarterbacks warming up at Lincoln Financial Field.

For Wentz and the Eagles, it’ll likely mean that the Birds star signal-caller takes his first official snap of the season, during the opener at home against the Redskins. Wentz has made it clear that he wasn’t worried about a lack of reps in preseason games after already establishing a solid relationship with DeSean Jackson, among other Eagles players.

“I’m really not worried about it, to be honest,” Wentz said Tuesday. “Every year, coming in, it’s always going to be that first hit, no matter if it’s three months off, six months off, 10 months, 12 months. It doesn’t really matter. That first hit wakes you up real quick. Then it’s football mode again.”

Jackson and Jason Peters are among the Eagles starters who are confirmed to see action against the Ravens.
