Report: Cardinals WR Christian Kirk will not play vs. Giants

The Arizona Cardinals will have running back David Johnson in the lineup when they take the field Sunday to play the New York Giants. He was officially questionable for the game with an ankle injury.

However, receiver Christian Kirk, also listed as questionable in Week 7, will not play.

That is what NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported early Sunday.

Kirk suffered a high ankle sprain in the final minute of the Cardinals’ Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. This will be his third game missed. He has been able to practice on a limited basis all week for the last two weeks.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has said there has been a lot of progress. Kirk can run well in straight lines but still was having issues with cutting and changing directions.

Rapoport’s report suggests that the game against the Giants should be the last game Kirk misses, provided he has no setbacks next week, and he should be on the field next week when the Cardinals take on the New Orleans Saints on the road.

Kirk had 24 receptions for 242 yards in the first four games of the season.
