Report: Cardinals to sign former 49ers DE Cassius Marsh

The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly claimed five players off waivers, but they aren’t done adding to the roster.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they are expected to add defensive end Cassius Marsh, who was cut when the Seattle Seahawks reached a deal to acquire Jadeveon Clowney from the Houston Texans on Saturday.

Marsh was a 2014 fourth-round pick of the Seahawks and played with them for three seasons. He spent time with the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers in 2017 and played all 16 games last season for the Niners, starting three games and recording a career-high 5.5 sacks.

Listed at 6 feet 4 and 245 pounds, he would play outside linebacker in the Cardinals’ 3-4 defensive scheme.

Arizona has four outside linebackers on the roster currently: Chandler Jones, Terrell Suggs, Brooks Reed and preseason standout Pete Robertson. Adding Marsh could mean Robertson gets cut.
