Report: Cardinals to release RB Alfred Morris

The Arizona Cardinals signed Alfred Morris last week after David Johnson injured his ankle. His time is apparently coming to a close in Arizona.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals have informed Morris he will be released.

He was inactive for the game against the New Orleans Saints and played only three snaps on Thursday against the San Francisco 49ers. He had one carry for four yards.

Currently, the Cardinals have five running backs on roster with Morris, David Johnson, Chase Edmonds, Kenyan Drake and Zach Zenner. Before any injuries at the position, they only kept three.

With the reported move, this could mean the Cardinals might have Johnson back from his ankle injury next week. Edmonds will reportedly miss several weeks with his hamstring injury. Next week when the Cardinals take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they might have Johnson, Drake and Zenner able to play.
