Report: Cardinals to re-sign S Chris Banjo to one-year contract

The Arizona Cardinals filled a minor need in free agency, bringing back an impact player on special team and veteran depth in the defensive secondary. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals are re-signing safety Chris Banjo to a one-year contract.

Banjo was signed early in the season when safety Charles Washington got injured. He remained on the roster the rest of the season. In 13 games, he had a total of 12 tackles. Seven of those tackles were on special teams. He earned some playing time on defense in specific packages and situations. He has three career interceptions.

He shores up the need the Cardinals have of a veteran safety who can play defense if needed.
