Report: Cardinals sign tackle Jordan Mills

The Arizona Cardinals are not done looking at their depth at tackle on the roster. Starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert missed the season opener with a knee injury and has already been ruled out for Week 2.

With uncertainty about Gilbert’s return to the lineup, the Cardinals have added another tackle to the roster.

According to Pro Football Talk, they have signed Jordan Mills to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

As of Monday night, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro first reported there was a “strong possibility” a deal was going to get done.

Mills started every game of the last three seasons at tackle for the Buffalo Bills. Drafted in the third round in 2012 by the Chicago Bears, he has played in 87 games and started 82. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins in the offseason and cut before the season began.

Justin Murray started at right tackle on Sunday against the Lions. He previously had appeared in two NFL games and is on his sixth team in four years. He did well considering he really only practiced on Friday with the starters.

The Cardinals will travel for their first road game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. Mills is probably the favorite to start at right tackle this week.
