REPORT: Cardinals’ Robert Nkemdiche arrested in Scottsdale during OTAs

For the second summer in a row, a member of the Arizona Cardinals has been arrested. Last summer, it was general manager Steve Keim for driving drunk.

The latest is defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche, according to ABC15 in Phoenix. On June 6 at 6:30 a.m., presumably on his way to the team facility for organized team activities, Nkemdiche was arrested for speeding and for driving on a suspended license.

He was going 75 mph in a 45 mph zone in Scottsdale.

He was pulled over for speeding, and it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license and failing to appear in court.

Police also found a white, powdery substance in a credit card case but chose not to test it, instead impounding it to destroy it.

The Cardinals released a statement, according to ABC15, indicating the team has been aware of the situation and alerted the league. It had no further comment.

It is yet another disappointment in the short career of the former first-round pick.

After three years, every concern associated with Nkemdiche when he came out of college has been an issue. He takes plays off. He is undisciplined within a scheme. Minor injuries set him back. He made questionable decisions off the field.

Nkemdiche is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered late last season. He isn’t likely going to be ready to play until at least midseason.

With this latest arrest, he might not play again for Arizona.
