Report: Cardinals have contacted Quinnen Williams about possibly being No. 1 pick

The pick has not been announced yet but it appears the Arizona Cardinals have made a decision on who will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft tonight. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals have finalized their decision and even reached out to a player.

They reached out to Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to let him know he is in the running for the top pick in the draft.

This suggests the Cardinals are going to select Williams first overall. After all, why would they contact Williams to let him know he only might be the pick. Williams probably already knew that.

If he is the pick, it will be quite the surprise, considering the Cardinals have long been connected to Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. If Murray is not the No. 1 pick, then chaos could ensure with teams trying to move up and select a player mostly everyone believed would be unavailable.
