Report: Cardinals flying to Jersey as planned after Jets’ presumptive positive test

Hours after it was reported that a Jets player received a “presumptive positive” COVID-19 test, the Cardinals are making their way to New Jersey.

With the two teams set to play at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, the Cardinals plan to fly east on Friday evening, according to ESPN’ Adam Schefter. The team’s plane is set to take off at 6 p.m.

All Jets players and coaches were sent home Friday after a player’s “presumptive positive” test. The team continued its Week 5 preparation virtually. Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the player in question was re-tested and his latest results should be known later in the day Friday.

The Jets have not had to place a player on the COVID-19 reserve list since the start of training camp in August. The NFL, however, has been hit hard by the virus over the last two weeks. The Steelers and Titans had their Week 4 game postponed after Tennessee suffered a sizeable outbreak. That also led to the Titans’ Week 5 contest against the Bills being pushed back to Tuesday.

The Patriots and Chiefs also needed to push their Week 4 game from Sunday to Monday. New England’s Week 5 bout with Denver has been pushed to Monday as well.

Over the summer, the Jets had three players opt-out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns: LB C.J. Mosley, WR Josh Doctson, and OL Leo Koloamatangi.
