Report: Cardinals’ Christian Kirk will sit out vs. Giants

The Arizona Cardinals will have running back David Johnson (ankle) when they take on the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon, but the news was not as positive when it came to wide receiver Christian Kirk.

Although Kirk was a limited participant in practice all week, finding himself listed as questionable when Arizona released their injury report on Friday, he didn’t even make it to pre-game warmups before being downgraded to out.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Kirk will need another week to rehab his injured ankle, leaving the Cardinals short one key asset against Big Blue.

With Kirk sitting out, wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Damiere Byrd are likely to see more targets, while KeeSean Johnson steps up into Kirk’s spot.

In six games this season, Kirk was third on the Cardinals with 24 receptions for 242 yards, trailing just Fitzgerald and Johnson, who excels out of the backfield.
