Report: Cardinals bring in former Broncos LB Shane Ray

The Arizona Cardinals regularly bring in players to work out on the team’s day off on Tuesdays. This week was no exception. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Cardinals had free agent pass rusher Shane Ray in the building.

Ray was a first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2015. He had 12 sacks in his first two seasons but only had two in the two following seasons when Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph was head coach for the Broncos.

Ray was with the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason and among final cuts before the season.

The Cardinals have four outside linebackers on the roster in Chandler Jones, Terrell Suggs, Cassius Marsh and Brooks Reed. Suggs dealt with a back injury leading up to last week’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The workout doesn’t necessarily mean there is an injury or that they are looking to sign the player. They often evaluate players so they do not have to scramble when there is an injury and they need to find a replacement.
