Report: Cardinals 3rd-round pick Josh Jones agrees to rookie contract

The Arizona Cardinals appear to be getting their draft picks under contract, as Tuesday is the day for rookies to report to training camp. First-round pick Isaiah Simmons reportedly agreed to a four-year contract already.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Cardinals have also agreed to terms with their third-round pick, offensive lineman Josh Jones.

According to Spotrac, the deal is for four years, as it is standard for rookie contracts, worth more than $4.8 million.

His signing bonus is $1.08 million, which will count just less than $270,000 each of the four years.

This is what his cap hit will look like each year:

2020: $610,00 salary, $880,000 cap hit

2021: $830,000 salary, $1.1 million cap hit

2022: $1.05 million salary, $1.32 million cap hit

2023: $1.27 million salary, $1.54 million cap hit

Jones is expected to compete for the starting right tackle job and could end up being the team’s backup swing tackle, as he played left tackle in college.
