Report: Cam Newton is vaccinated for COVID-19

Former New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton is vaccinated for COVID-19 after initially opting against getting jabbed earlier this NFL season. During his stint with the Patriots, he was one of the team’s few unvaccinated individuals.

“I think it’s too personal for each and every person to kind of discuss it, and I’ll just keep it at that,” Newton said in August when asked if he was vaccinated.

It quickly came out he was unvaccinated, and when he violated the protocol for unvaccinated individuals, he missed crucial practice time, which may have given way to quarterback Mac Jones’ emergence. Newton’s decision to get vaccinated could help him find work.

Because the NFL has a different set of protocols for individuals who are and are not fully vaccinated, it’s disadvantageous for a quarterback to be unvaccinated. Newton could find a home with a team, perhaps as a backup.
