Report: Cam Newton expected to be ready to practice after Panthers’ bye week

Let the hot takes begin! According to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN, Cam Newton’s foot injury has healed well and he’s expected to be ready to practice after the Panthers’ bye week.

Coach Ron Rivera has said the team won’t play Cam at QB again until he’s 100% healthy. Despite a growing chorus of commentators suggesting a change is coming, Rivera has also said Newton will remain the starter once he’s back to himself. Kyle Allen may be on a five-game winning streak going back to last season, but a healthy Newton is still the team’s best chance to win games.

Next up on the schedule, the Panthers face the 49ers, who have one of the league’s top defenses this season. They just held Jared Goff and the Rams to 78 passing yards and seven points on their own field.
