Report: Buddy Boeheim, Son of Longtime Syracuse Coach, Lands Two-Way NBA Contract

The Detroit Pistons are signing Buddy Boeheim to a two-year, two-way contract, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.

Boeheim, who is the son of longtime Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, played 10 games for the Pistons during his rookie 2022-23 season. He played in the NBA Summer League, but was waived on Oct. 21 by the Pistons.

He then was designated to the Pistons’ G League team, the Motor City Cruise, in late October. In 20 G League games, Boeheim is averaging 15.6 points on 43.8% three-point shooting this season.

The two-way contract gives Boeheim the opportunity to be active for the Pistons’ remaining 28 games if the team chooses to elevate him from the Cruise.

He will also fill one of Detroit’s three two-way contract spots for the 2024-25 season.

Boeheim played all four college seasons at Syracuse under his dad as the coach. He started the majority of the games in his last three seasons.

The Orange made the NCAA tournament twice during Boeheim’s collegiate career, losing to Baylor in the Round of 64 in 2019 and advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2021.
