Report: Browns were interested in signing Antonio Brown

The Antonio Brown drama continues to spin off tentacles in any number of directions. One of those lands upon the Cleveland Browns.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Browns were a team with “confirmed interest” in signing the wide receiver upon his release from the Oakland Raiders on Saturday. Brown wound up signing with the New England Patriots, but it seems the Browns were at least minor players in the soap opera. As Mortensen notes, the wideout’s vengeful desire to stick it to his old team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, put the AFC North rival Browns into the discussion.

The Seattle Seahawks, who play in Pittsburgh next week and have a need at wide receiver far greater than the Browns do, were also in consideration per Mortensen.
