Report: Browns, S Juan Thornhill Agree to Terms on Three-Year Deal

After a season of defensive struggles, the Browns reportedly are making a move to bolster their secondary.

Cleveland has agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with former Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill, according to a Wednesday report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Thornhill registered eight interceptions and 225 tackles in 65 games with Kansas City. He won two Super Bowl rings with the Chiefs, although he was on the injured reserve for Super Bowl LIV after tearing his ACL in December 2019.

Despite the injury, the second-round pick out of Virginia was named to the All-Rookie team that season.

According to Pelissero, Thornhill’s deal with the Browns will guarantee him $14 million over the first two years of the contract—his age-28 and age-29 seasons.

Thornhill joins a youthful secondary that includes defensive backs Denzel WardGrant DelpitGreedy WilliamsGreg Newsome II and Martin Emerson Jr.
