Report: Browns request to interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is drawing interest from multiple teams for head coaching openings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. After the Carolina Panthers showed interest this weekend, the Cleveland Browns requested permission to interview McDaniels on Monday, per ESPN.

The Browns fired coach Freddie Kitchens on Sunday after his first full season in the position.

McDaniels has predominantly served as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator (2005-2008, 2012-present), with a brief stint as the head coach in Denver (2009-2010) before working at the Rams offensive coordinator (2011). This season, the Patriots offense has struggled, and has needed to rely upon their defense and special teams to win game. Even so, McDaniels has been creative and inventive to help the Patriots’ lackluster and still-developing skill players.
