The Denver Broncos will begin allowing a limited amount of fans to attend games at Empower Field at Mile High beginning in Week 3 of the NFL season, according to a report from KDVR-TV’s Matt Mauro.
The Broncos previously announced that fans will not be allowed to attend their Week 1 season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 14. If KDVR’s report is accurate, some fans will be allowed when Denver hosts Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 27.
“The state has not said how many fans will be allowed in; Broncos have not said how tickets will be sold,” Mauro tweeted on Sunday evening. If Denver is allowed to sell 20% of the stadium’s capacity (76,125) like some other teams, that would be 15,225 fans in Week 3.
It sounds like capacity will be limited to less than 20%, at least initially. KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis indicated on Sunday evening that the Bucs game will likely have fewer than 15,000 fans in attendance.
The Broncos will play games with no fans in attendance for at least Weeks 1-2. After hosting the Titans, Denver will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in Week 2 and there won’t be any fans at that game.
