Report: Broncos want 2nd-round pick for Chris Harris; Eagles have called

As the NFL’s trade deadline nears (2 p.m. MT today), the Denver Broncos are seeking a second-round draft choice in exchange for four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Chris Harris, according to KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck.

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached out to Denver about Harris but believe the Broncos’ asking price is too high, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

If no teams are willing to trade a second-round pick, Broncos general manager John Elway will be content to keep Harris on the roster for the remaining eight games of the 2019 season.

Harris is scheduled to become a free agent in 2020 and Denver might get a compensatory selection for him in 2021, depending on how much Harris earns on his next contract and on how much the Broncos spend during free agency. The highest comp picks awarded are third-round selections.

Harris and his wife, Leah, are expecting a baby soon and the cornerback has said he would like to remain in Denver.
