Report: Broncos signing undrafted free agent RB Levante Bellamy

The Denver Broncos are signing undrafted free agent running back Levante Bellamy, according to a report from Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

Levante (5-9, 192 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 16 times at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Levante to Taquan Mizzell, who has spent time with three different teams since entering the NFL in 2017.

“Bellamy should compete for work as a RB3 with change-of-pace speed, but he needs to prove he can improve as a pass-catching option at the next level,” Zierlein wrote of Bellamy on NFL.com before the draft.

During his time at Western Michigan, Bellamy rushed 617 times for 3,720 yards and 35 touchdowns, averaging six yards per carry. He also caught 57 passes for 370 yards and one touchdown.

In Denver, Bellamy will join a crowded backfield that already includes Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay, Royce Freeman, Khalfani Muhammad and
Jeremy Cox. Bellamy might have to hope for a practice squad spot.
