Report: Broncos have not asked Emmanuel Sanders to restructure contract

Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders tweeted Tuesday that he won’t be restructuring his contract with the team.

The Broncos appear to be OK with that.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday that the team has not approached Sanders or the receiver’s agent about a possible contract restructure. Pelissero also reported that the team is expected to pick up Sanders’ option, guaranteeing $1.5 million this season.

Sanders, 31, is set to earn a base salary of $10.25 million in 2019. If Denver cut Sanders, none of that salary would count toward the team’s salary cap.

Despite the fact that Sanders is recovering from an Achilles injury, Pelissero seems to believe the team will bring Sanders back.

“[His] health is not to believed to be an issue [so] at this point, it appears that Emmanuel Sanders will be a Bronco in 2019,” Pelissero said during a recent appearance on NFL Network.

Sanders caught 71 passes for 868 yards and scored six touchdowns in 12 games before suffering a season-ending injury in 2018.
