Report: Broncos have ‘little interest’ in Jets WR Robby Anderson

Earlier this week, Broncos Wire published a list of eight wide receivers that general manager John Elway should consider during free agency.

The list did not include Cowboys pending free agent Amari Cooper because we assumed he would be too expensive for the Broncos. The list did include Jets pending free agent Robby Anderson, who was ranked No. 1 as a presumed perfect fit for Denver.

Those assumptions appear to be wrong.

If Dallas does not place a franchise tag on Cooper, KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck expects the Broncos to pursue him.

“He could command a five-year, $95 million deal,” Renck wrote on Tuesday. “The Broncos can afford it — they could have as much as $75 million to spend when rolling over unused money from last year.”

Renck also reported that “sources have described the Broncos as having little interest in” Anderson, who says he wants to re-sign with New York.

To recap: Anderson is unlikely. Cooper appears to be a possibility. The scheduled start of free agency — March 18 — is less than a week away.
