Report: Broncos fear serious knee injury for WR Courtland Sutton

Story update: Sutton will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL. See our original post below.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton is feared to have suffered a serious knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and James Palmer.

Sutton suffered a shoulder injury before the season started and missed the Broncos’ season opener against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. He returned in Week 2 against the Steelers only to exit the game with knee pain.

Denver has been hit hard by injuries this year.

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller will miss at least three months, cornerback A.J. Bouye is on injured reserve, running back Phillip Lindsay will likely miss at least one more game and quarterback Drew Lock injured his right throwing shoulder in Pittsburgh.

Last night, KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis reported that Denver fears Sutton and Lock could both have serious injuries. Klis also reported that defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones (knee) could be in danger of being sidelined for several weeks.

Sutton, 24, is the Broncos’ No. 1 receiver. The top options behind him on the depth chart are Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, KJ Hamler, DaeSean Hamilton, Diontae Spencer, and Tyrie Cleveland.
