Report: Broncos fear serious injury for FB Andy Janovich

Story update: Andy Janovich will be out 6-8 weeks with a pectoral injury. See our original post below.

The Broncos lost tight end Austin Fort to a season-ending ACL injury against the Seahawks on Thursday evening. Denver fears that another offensive player may have suffered a serious injury.

Broncos fullback Andy Janovich went down during the second quarter and appeared to be favoring his right pectoral muscle. Denver described the injury as a “shoulder injury” and ruled Janovich out from the game.

Early Friday morning, KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis reported that “there is fear” that the injury is serious. If the Broncos lose Janovich for an extended period, it would be a big blow to the team’s offense and special teams.

Janovich would have been a key piece in Rich Scangarello’s offense this season — he provided the key block that sprang running back Royce Freeman for a 50-yard run in Seattle. Janovich is also one of the team’s most important special teams contributors.

After Janovich left Thursday’s game, undrafted rookie George Aston filled in at fullback. If Janovich suffered a season-ending injury, Aston will be the favorite to replace him on the 53-man roster.
