Report: Broncos’ Courtland Sutton unlikely to play vs. Titans

The Denver Broncos might be without their top wide receiver in their season-opening contest against the Tennessee Titans, as Courtland Sutton appears unlikely to play in Week 1.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Sutton is a “long-shot” to play on “Monday Night Football” versus the Titans after suffering a sprained AC joint earlier in the week.

Rapoport notes that if it were a playoff game, Sutton would suit up, so the injury doesn’t seem to be too serious. Denver is likely just taking the safe route here with 15 games left to play after tonight.

This is yet another big break for the Titans, as they’ll avoid both Sutton and superstar pass rusher, Von Miller.

Tennessee is dealing with its own injury issue, though. Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson was a surprise addition to the injury report earlier in the week and has been ruled out for Week 1. That would have been an even bigger issue had Sutton was suited up.

We’ll get official word on Sutton’s status when both teams release their inactives lists an hour and a half before kickoff, which is set to take place at 9:20 p.m. CT.
