Report: Big Ten to reinstate 2020 fall football season with October 17 start date

The saga of the Big Ten football season has been a wild rollercoaster ride, and for fans who were hoping on seeing some Michigan State football this fall, it looks like you are going to get your wish.

Yesterday, the Big Ten’s medical subcommittee presented options to reinstitute the fall football season after new COVID-19 rapid-response testing has become available to the conference. According to a report from Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that presentation will lead to an official restart date for the Big Ten football season of October 17th.

The Big Ten had originally voted to postpone the fall season back in August, and for a while, it looked like things wouldn’t start back up for the conference until 2021. However, this news related to the new testing methods is huge and, for the first time in a month, it looks like there is some major hope to see some MSU football soon.
