Report: Bengals worked out Texas A&M TE Jace Sternberger

Reports about Cincinnati Bengals workouts and meets continue to trickle in ahead of the 2019 NFL draft.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals had a workout with Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger.

Interesting, as Sternberger is considered an upside-minded pick in the middle rounds, if not the second. He had the highest receiving grade of any tight end at Pro Football Focus last year while catching 48 passes for 832 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Bengals brought back Tyler Eifert and C.J. Uzomah this offseason. But the former remains an injury risk and a smart investment in a weapon like Sternberger could help ease the pain of another loss and help keep the offense moving.

A reliable threat all over the field, the Sternberger interest could hint at not only who the Bengals like this year, but the type of players Zac Taylor prefers in his offense.
