Report: Bengals waive DE Jordan Willis

The Cincinnati Bengals have decided to part ways with defensive end Jordan Willis, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Willis was a third-round pick by the Bengals in 2017 and played in all 16 games over the first two seasons of his career.

However, a new coaching staff arrived this offseason and Willis saw a starting edge job go to Sam Hubbard. He sat on the inactives list during the team’s Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Willis has plenty of upside, but with three ends getting 40-plus percent of the snaps and Kerry Wynn also working on a rotational basis in Seattle, the writing was quietly on the wall that he was either working through an injury or simply wasn’t in the plans.
