Report: Bengals to sign free-agent CB B.W. Webb

The Cincinanti Bengals have made their first outside move of free agency by reportedly bringing on cornerback B.W. Webb.

Dianna Russini of ESPN reported the Bengals will bring on the 28-year-old veteran. The Bengals had three known free agents visiting, with one of them being Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brian Poole.

As for Webb, he’s a 2013 fourth-round pick who has played for five different teams since entering the league. He spent last year with the New York Giants.

This is clearly a connection hire as Webb played under new Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. In theory, it shouldn’t have a big impact on Poole, or more importantly, Bengals free agent Darqueze Dennard.

Given Webb’s journeyman status and lack of a big salary over the years, his coming aboard and fighting for a special teams role or otherwise shouldn’t influence how the team operates moving forward at the position.
