Report: Bengals sign Mike Daniels to 1-year deal

It didn’t take long for the Cincinnati Bengals to make things official with free-agent defensive tackle Mike Daniels.

After a reported visit to Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Daniels’ deal went official Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Daniels, a fourth-round pick in 2012, spent seven years with the Green Bay Packers before spending last season with the Detroit Lions, registering a PFF grade of 70.1 over nine games.

It’s no wonder the Bengals like Daniels given his versatility, as he can play multiple spots on the line. He played for Al Golden in Detroit, who now has an assistant spot on the Bengals coaching staff.

Cincinnati recently suffered multiple setbacks on the defensive interior with the loss of Josh Tupou and Ryan Glasgow. Daniels is the sort of veteran presence the team wanted to ease some pressure off Renell Wren.
