Report: Bengals request Rams’ permission to interview Aubrey Pleasant for defensive coordinator

It appears Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals have a member of the Los Angeles Rams in their sights for their vacant defensive coordinator position.

According to a new report from Mike Jones of USA Today, the Bengals have asked the Rams permission to interview Aubrey Pleasant:

This comes on the heels of a report revealing Taylor decided Jack Del Rio wasn’t the right fit for the job.

The Rams can’t be thrilled about already losing one coach to the Bengals and now getting requests for more. But it isn’t hard to see why the Bengals would have an interest in Pleasant, who started as an offensive coach in Washington before shifting to the defensive side of the ball. He’s spent the last two seasons with the Rams.

Viewed as a riser in coaching circles, there is a chance the Rams block this because they want Pleasant to eventually replace Wade Phillips.
