Report: Bengals promote Troy Walters to WRs coach

Lost in the major news that the Cincinnati Bengals have brought back Frank Pollack to coach the offensive line is another smaller revelation — the team has promoted Troy Walters to wide receivers coach.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported the move, revealing Walters will fill the void left by the departure of Bob Bicknell.

Walters was a fifth-round draft pick in 2000 and he played in the NFL through 2007 before shifting to coaching. There, he hopped around as a wideouts coach before becoming the offensive coordinator at UCF and Nebraska.

The move comes at an interesting time for the wideout room as names like A.J. Green and John Ross figure to leave the team, leaving Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins as the key pieces. Walters and Co. will have to decide on adding to the room, either via free agency or the draft as the team continues to build around Joe Burrow.
