Report: Bengals hosted free-agent DT Danny Shelton on visit

The flurry of news surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency continues.

This time, it turns out the Bengals hosted New England Patriots defensive tackle and free agent Danny Shelton on a visit, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Shelton, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2015 who spent three seasons there before joining the Patriots. He was traded to New England last March and appeared in a few playoff games.

At 345 pounds, Shelton is a space-eating tackle who could help the rotation inside for the Bengals, who have Geno Atkins and Andrew Billings there, but a hodgepodge of names in terms of depth.

This isn’t the first defender the Bengals have met with since the market opened, though a visit with Shaquil Barrett didn’t produce a contract before he went on to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
