Report: Bengals host Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat on pre-draft visit

Based on visits so far, the Cincinnati Bengals are serious about upgrading the pass rush in the 2019 NFL draft.

The latest sign of this pursuit comes from the report of a visit from Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat, according to Alex Marvez.

Sweat blew the doors off the combine, measuring at 6’6″ and 260 pounds before running a 4.41 40-yard-dash and performing other feats like a 36-inch vertical jump and a seven-second-flat time in the three-cone drill.

The Bengals have been all over pass rushers in the visits department. They had Florida’s Jachai Polite and Kentucky’s Josh Allen recently. Free agents like Vinny Curry and Danny Shelton were also mentioned earlier.

Deepening the pass rush is never a bad thing. Sam Hubbard looked good a season ago, but Carl Lawson is still working his way back from injury. An edge player is clearly a favorite at No. 11.
