Bengals hire Lou Anarumo as defensive coordinator

The Cincinnati Bengals and head coach Zac Taylor have finally found the right man for defensive coordinator. The team announced it has hired former New York Giants defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo.

Anarumo and Taylor spent time together with the Miami Dolphins, where the former served as interim defensive coordinator in 2015.

So ends a long-awaited move for the Bengals and one viewed as the most important hire of Taylor’s staff considering the youthful and offensive-minded slant of the hirings so far.

Taylor had decided Jack Del Rio wasn’t a good fit and aimed at some overly lofty targets throughout the process, recently getting turned down by Florida’s Todd Grantham and failing to secure an interview with Ohio State’s Jeff Hafley.

Anarumo, 52, arrives as one of the more senior members of the Bengals staff, though this will be his first official NFL coordinator post.
