Report: Bengals have interest in free agent Gerald McCoy

It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals might have an interest in adding free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

This was something of a laughing matter when Joe Mixon started a social media recruitment after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived McCoy.

Now…not so much — ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported above that the Bengals have an interest.

As they should: McCoy is one of the NFL’s top interior pass rushers and has plenty left in the tank. Naturally, he’d fit well next to Geno Atkins and give the Bengals an even deeper, versatile pass rush along the line.

But if the interest is there, McCoy would still have to want to join. He’s said he wants to play for a contender, so whether he considers the Bengals might say a lot about how free agents view the team right now.
