It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals have permission from the Los Angeles Rams to interview one of their preferred defensive coordinator targets.
The Bengals had asked the Rams permission to interview Aubrey Pleasant for the position to previously unknown results.
That changed recently:
Pleasant is part of Zac Taylor’s effort to greatly expand the defensive coordinator search. Prior ideas like Jack Del Rio and Dom Capers fell through.
A former offensive assistant before switching over to defense, Pleasant was presumably someone the Rams wanted to keep for the long term on the chance Wade Phillips retires soon. But that doesn’t seem to have stopped the Bengals from getting an interview here.
