Report: Bengals expected to hire Jim Turner as offensive line coach

The Cincinnati Bengals appear to have their next offensive line coach on the radar.

According to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the man to replace Frank Pollack will be Jim Turner: “Sources indicate those expected to join the staff from the outside are James Casey (tight ends) and current Texas A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner filling the same role in Cincinnati.”

Turner is the only new name there, as James Casey as new tight ends coach and Ben Martin as assistant offensive line coach were reported previously.

Turner is one of the more controversial hires the Bengals could make underneath Zac Taylor. He was the offensive line coach in Miami during the Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito bullying scandal. He was fired after an investigator shined a light on the role he played, then turned up in 2016 with Texas A&M and got suspended for inappropriate jokes used in a football clinic.

Alas, Turner and Taylor have been at various stops together so there is certainly some connection here. Nothing is official yet though, something Bengals fans learned the hard way Tuesday when speculation about Jack Del Rio fell flat.
