Report: Bengals CB Trae Waynes will miss most of 2020 after undergoing pec surgery

It turns out the Cincinnati Bengals will miss one of their biggest free-agent additions for most of the 2020 season, with cornerback Trae Waynes recently undergoing surgery for a torn pec.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided the following: “Big blow for the Bengals: Big-ticket free agent CB Trae Waynes underwent surgery for a torn pec and will miss a sizable portion of the 2020 season.”

The initial reported estimates tabbed Waynes as missing roughly two months before the Bengals found out the severity of the injury and that it required surgery.

The Bengals had signed Waynes to a three-year deal worth $42 million after letting of Dre Kirkpatrick and Darqueze Dennard in an effort to completely overhaul the secondary.

Waynes’ absence means the Bengals will lean into younger upstarts like Darius Phillips, if not look to the open market for help again.
