Report: Ben Simmons agrees to 5-year, $170 max extension with Sixers

Although the weekend had a little bit of bad news for Klutch Sports following Marcus Morris’ decision to walk away from the operation,  Monday provided another reminder that the bad days don’t last very long for Klutch and Rich Paul.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Monday morning that one of Klutch’s most well-known clients, Ben Simmons, has agreed to a 5-year maximum contract extension worth $170 million.

Simmons has only played two seasons but has averaged 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and just a hair under 8 rebounds per game, to go with 1.6 steals over the course of his career. Last year was Simmons’ first time being named to the NBA All-Star team at just 22 years old. Simmons is turning 23 later this week.

During the last postseason, Simmons averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game on 62 percent shooting but he averaged fewer than 10 field goal attempts per game. The biggest critique of Simmons’ game at this stage of his career is his shooting away from the rim. He is 0-for-17 in his career from the 3-point line and is a career 58% free-throw shooter.
