Report: Bears and Packers likely to kick off 2019 NFL season

The 2019 season is shaping up to be déjà vu for the Chicago Bears.

Mitchell Trubisky is likely to square off with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 in prime time for the second straight season, according to a report from the SportsBusiness Journal.

It wouldn’t just be the Bears’ first game of the year. It would be the first game of the NFL season (Thursday, Sept. 8) and kick off the 100th year of the league.

This would be the first time since 2003 that the opening game of the season didn’t feature the Super Bowl-winning team.

The report says broadcast network executives expressed a lot of interest in broadcasting Bears games, which could lead to another heavy slate of prime-time games for Chicago.

Matt Nagy was 3-1 in their night games last season, with the only loss coming to Green Bay to start the season.
