Report: Texans still interested in Patriots’ Nick Caserio

The Houston Texans are done pursuing New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio. After the Super Bowl LIII champions slapped Houston with tampering charges, the Texans decided to back down.

Not so fast.

According to a new report from the NFL Network’s Michael Giardi, Caserio still remains the Texans’ top target, even after the club announced they would roll with a four-man committee for general manager, with senior vice president of football administration Chris Olsen holding the interim GM title.

It makes sense that the Texans would hold off on hiring a new general manager after veteran minicamp in June anyhow. Front office shakeups happen in January, and that would be the best time for the Texans to make another run at Caserio.

Aside from the final trimming down to 53 players, there really isn’t any other reason the Texans need a general manager.

The Texans weren’t able to get Caserio this offseason. The beginning of the 2020 offseason will tell whether they’re able to final haul in their coveted general manager prospect.
