Report: Anthony Harris, Vikings expected resume discussions over long-term deal

Safety Anthony Harris was franchise tagged by the Vikings earlier this offseason, and with his long-term future in Minnesota still up in the air, there has been a reported update on the situation.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that the Vikings and Harris are expected to resume discussions over a long-term deal.

Anderson also said there were discussions between the two in March, which corroborates an earlier report from Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, who said Harris and the Vikings have been lately in discussing a long-term extension for the safety this offseason.

Something that stands out in the report from Anderson are the factors that could impact Harris’ future in Minnesota.

The Vikings are definitely strapped for cash in future seasons, and the team has just over $12 million in available space for 2020, according to Over The Cap. That said, Harris is coming off a year where he had six interceptions, establishing himself as one of the best safeties in the NFL right now.
